An important answer about gearing from Mike Curtes:
Regular Beechwood riders riding on 29ers run anywhere from a 34×19 for the super strong mashers to a 32×21 for the spinners. There are lots and lots of steep punchy climbs and very few flat spots to hurt those that choose to run easier gearing. I’d suggest erring on the easy side for anyone that hasn’t been there.

Anyone who wants to see a good show would be welcome as a volunteer. Rumor has it that Hawaiian shirts might make an appearance in the race, and the weekend is sure to be fun all around.
